Chantel Acosta Saubon LCSW, specializes in compassionate, evidence-based mental health care for women across Texas by virtual sessions. Whether you’re seeking therapy for fertility struggles and pregnancy to the postpartum period, motherhood and beyond, we will walk together in your transformative journey. Below are a few questions you may have but if you have more just contact me for a free 15-minute consultation call to see if we are a good fit.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. I do accept BCBS PPO and Cigna plans. For those who wish to not use their insurance I do accept private pay and have a few spots for sliding scale fee. I do offer superbills for those who may have a different insurance plan but would still like to continue services with my practice. Let's have a consultation call to find out what fits your financial needs.
What does the first session look like?
The first session is really just a conversation to hear your story. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what life looks like for you right now, and what you're hoping therapy might help with. By the end, we'll have a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit — and if it does, we'll start building a plan from there.
How soon can I get an appointment?
Once we confirm that you would like to start services, we will schedule within the week. I do use a video platform that you will have your own client portal to log on for our first session and also complete necessary paperwork.
How do I know you're the right therapist for me?
The most important thing in therapy is the relationship. Therapy needs to feel safe, seen with no judgement. I'd encourage you to schedule a free consultation call and pay attention to how you feel during the conversation. Do you feel like you can be honest? Do you feel understood? Trust that instinct. If I'm not the right fit, I will provide referrals for other trusted providers to support your unique journey.
What is the difference between baby blues and postpartum depression?
The onset of baby blues usually happens within a week after giving birth and symptoms may last up to three weeks. it's considered typical adjustment to change of hormone and physical recovery from childbirth. Postpartum depression can begin any time after birth and appear for up to a year after delivery. Symptoms impede on your functioning including but not limited to changes in sleep, and appetite; anger, irritability or rage; crying spells and sadness, feelings of guilt and shame; loss of interest, avoiding or lack of interest in baby, possible thought of hurting yourself or baby. Take the burden off of yourself to diagnose and reach out to your provider to determine if you need more support or treatment.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
Currently I offer only virtual sessions. With virtual sessions, I can support women throughout the state of Texas.
How long does therapy usually take?
This is genuinely different for everyone who comes into my practice. Some women come for a focused period of time around a specific issue like birth trauma or the transition to motherhood. Others find that longer-term support serves them better, especially if they're doing deeper identity or relational work. We'll check in regularly about how things are going and adjust as needed. The pacing of sessions and how long our time is together is defined by how you are doing and the goals that you feel you have accomplished in our time together.
