Present Journey

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker,(LCSW), licensed in the state of Texas (37471). I have been practicing with families my whole career and recently I've landed in the early times of parenting.   My current training is working with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, and providing safe and courageous spaces for mamas through their journey of motherhood. I have been co-facilitating with amazing women at Mama Bloom providing support groups for postpartum mamas. I also have the privilege as a board approved supervisor to help other social workers reach their goal towards gaining their clinical license. The road that I have journeyed in my career and family life lands me back to part time private practice.  I have been in part time private practice since 2012 with intermittent stay-at-home adventures with my three daughters and husband. Family life brings me and my husband joy and challenges all wrapped up into one, but when we are our best selves, we love hiking the trails, camping the state parks, enjoying backyard movie nights and trying out new coffee and dessert spots!

Early Educational and Professional Journey

My career journey began at the University of Houston Psychology Department,  working with research studies involving women in domestic violence situations and later working with families with children with Autism. My time working with different research projects really led me to know that I wanted to work with families directly. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Science Degree in Social Work in 2002.  Since then I have worked in a variety of foster care agencies, providing counseling for children and their families, educational support for foster parents and focused training in trauma informed care and cognitive behavioral techniques. I have also worked with children with special needs and their parents at Any Baby Can Early Childhood Intervention program and  focused my training in infant mental health including developmental trauma, attachment and working with the parent child relationship. For six years, I was fortunate to be the roots of the beginning for an amazing organization called Vela, which empowers and supports parents of children with special needs.  Vela started my love to mentor other social workers find their passion which brought me to getting my supervisor license.
